Blame it on the magazines of my youth.

Life, Time, National Geographic, Architectural Digest, Creem, Rolling Stone, Easyriders, ArtNews, and Playboy coupled by the rise in newspaper photojournalism and my attention was riveted.

Photographs that took you to places unknown, people you wished to meet, events you couldn’t believe occurred, beauty as you never envisioned, moments that caused a stir, laughter without words, heartache you could feel, happiness through adversities, humanity as a whole, and art composed by a magical box you could hold in your hands.

You really understand the impact something, or someone had on you when looking back at your path and realize, of course, what else would I be doing.

Life magazine taught me patience, wait for the moment along with don’t stage, don’t touch. National Geographic inspired me to explore outside my front door, open my mind to the everyday. Architectural Digest was about design, lines, elevation, the surroundings and how things connect, craftsmanship, and to see light compliment space and detail. Creem and Rolling Stone taught me about rock and roll, the energy, talent and musicianship of amazing performances along with the intimacy and seclusion of talented artists. Easyriders taught me about grit, working man, independence, free spirit, being in the wind, and the art of the machine. ArtNews taught me to express, compose and create for oneself instead of others. Playboy, oh boy. Playboy taught me about lighting, quality, style, and consistency, oh, and the articles…I had it for the articles, haha.

Combining photography, fine art, cinema, and journalism has brought me to the place my mind and work now reside. Respect for others, their homes, business, families and living. Creating, sharing, honoring, and showcasing defines my approach.
